⚠️ Critical Registration Guidelines
- FIDE ID Mandatory: Players without a valid FIDE ID will not be accepted for the classical events (Events 5, 6 & 7).
- Early Bird Discount: 10% discount on entry fees for Events 5, 6 & 7 if paid in full before 1st August 2026.
- Deadline & Refund: Registrations close 21st August 2026, 12:00 PM. Strictly no refunds will be issued after the deadline.

Event 1: SMS DEEN Open Rapid Team
Open rapid team event (cap 200 entries). RM 3,000 for 1st, Best State RM 1,000, Best Junior (U16) RM 500, Best Govt / IPT / Veteran RM 400.
Event 2: Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Under-12 Junior Team
Under-12 junior rapid team event (cap 50 entries). Best State RM 1,000, Best Girls RM 500.
Event 3: Merdeka Blitz
Fast-paced Merdeka Day blitz tournament. 7-9 Swiss rounds, 3+2 time control.
Event 4: Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Age-Group
Youth individual rapid age group championship (cap 200 entries). Under-6 to Under-18 categories.
Event 5: 21st Dato Arthur Tan Open
The premier classical chess tournament of the festival. FIDE rated. Total prize fund USD $50,000.
Event 6: Daniel Yong Chen-I Memorial (U-2000)
FIDE rated classical open for players rated under 2000 FIDE. Rating categories (1800-1600, 1599-1400, Unrated).
Event 7: Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Seniors’ Open
FIDE rated classical event for seniors aged 60 and above. Categories for Age 65-74 and Above 75.
Event 8: Merdeka Day Age Group
Individual age group championship. Medals & certificates for youth categories. RM 500 for 1st in Open Section.
Event 9: Festival Blitz
The grand finale blitz battle. 7-9 Swiss rounds, 3+2 time control.
